Ricci changed roles to be more suited to adults with The Ice Storm (1997), followed by an award-winning role on The Opposite of Sex 1998 and resulted in her being the Golden Globe nominee for Best Actress. Her success continued with well-received performances in Sleepy Hollow (1999) and Monster (2003). Ricci played the lead role in Black Snake Moan, Penelope and Speed Racer.
